Umeox X5 The Worlds Thinnest Phone To Be Unveiled At IFA Next Month

The world thinnest phone in the form of the Chinese made Umeox x5 which was first unveiled back in June of this year, will be officially unveiled at the upcoming IFA electronic show taking place in Berlin next month.

Very little is known about the new Umeox x5 smartphone other than it is equipped with a 5.3 inch display and powered by a MediaTek chip and measures an ultra thin 5.6mm.

Rumors have surfaced about the next generation Galaxy Note 3 from Samsung. According to the rumors, the next Note will have a massive battery allowing it to run for a long time. The battery is said to be a 3450 mAh unit and the rumor comes from a person claiming to have seen an engineering sample of the device.

Avoid Your Neighbors with iDoorCam

When I first saw the source article for iDoorCam, I wanted nothing more than to ridicule it for the lazy name and cheesy premise. After watching the video below, I can’t deny I’m intrigued.

iDoorCam is a simple device with a camera and a button that pretty much takes the place of your doorbell. When the button is pressed, an alert is sent to your phone, which is acceptable by anyone set up to receive iDoorCam alerts from your device. After accepting, the device connects to your phone via the internet and shows you a live feed of your door front via a small web camera embedded in the device. You can then talk to them through the device’s speakers, or ignore the people at your door altogether.

NBC News Buys Stringwire

Stringwire, a web service that makes it easy for users to stream videos straight from their phones, has been bought by NBC News. The chief digital officer of NBC News said she plans to use the app to cover mass events like the Cairo protests or the Boston bombings.

Apparently no app will be required. People will contact Stringwire via Twitter saying they’re witnessing a particular news event and receive a link that will prompt the user to start recording via their cell phone. All videos will before being reported on to ensure the video is appropriate and that the tweeter was telling the truth.

New iPhone Incoming Sept. 10th

The date of the next major iPhone event has been set. On September 10th Apple will be unveiling what’s most likely the iPhone 5S and a release version of the iOS 7.

Of course it’s all just speculations and rumors at this point. Apple could unveil something brand new or nothing at all, but the chances of either happening is slim-to-none if the recent past is any indication.

Defense Mobile to Support the Troops

Defense Mobile is a new mobile communication company that’s planning to offer cellular communication services exclusively to active-duty forces, reserves and veterans at a reduced rate. It’s easy to think that you’ll get what you pay for, but Defense Mobile isn’t skimping on its service to meet costs. The company just announced that it’s made a deal with Sprint CDMA and LTE.

By sometime in 2014 the company hopes to start offering military members with plans ranging from $20 to $60 while providing top-of-the-line coverage. It’ll also offer the latest and greatest phones on the market, including the iPhone 5, Galaxy S 4, and HTC One.

Mockups of Upcoming iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C Spotted

In the past, we have seen the upcoming iPhone 5C in a number of photos. Today, a Vietnamese site, Tinhte posted what they claim are mock-ups of the upcoming iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C aka low cost iPhone. In case you don’t know, Tinhte has a strong record of getting their hands on the pre-release Apple products, so we have all the right reasons to believe that the prototypes they showed should be close to what Apple is planning to launch next month. The folks at Tinhte received the prototype devices from a local accessory supplier PhukienGiare, who also supplied them with the pre-release mockups of the upcoming iPad Mini.

Nokia Lumia 1020 created a lot of hype at the time of its launch and still is. The 41MP cameraphone was available at AT&T for a hefty $299 on a 2-year contract. The device received a decent response at the time of launch and was out of stock in a very short period of time. If you are still planning to get hold of Lumia 1020, you could just visit Amazon as the retail giant is now selling AT&T version of the Lumia 1020 for $249.99 with a 2-year contract – that is 50$ less than the official price.
