70-200mm Nikon Lens Thermos Has Arrived

At $69.99, it’s rather cheap too. Looking beyond the exterior, what the thermos has going for it is a double wall of stainless steel, vacuum insulation to keep your liquids hot and a rust proof finish. Throw in a heavy-duty handle in case you need to protect yourself from muggers plus a tiny cup for tiny sips.

DTV Shredder Is A Segway Tank

Trust us, calling this mechanized beast a “Segway tank” is the best description possible. The creation of inventor Ben Gulak, his skateboard-on-treads is being touted as the next evolutionary step in mechanized warfare. How? Judging by the awful photo shopped pics on the DTV Shredder site, soldiers are supposed to ride this baby and charge off to battle. Mr. Gulak and co. even showcased their pint-sized APC last month in a Detroit conference. For the skinny on this monster, we suggest you read on.

New MSI CR420 Notebook Can Stream Stuff To Your HDTV

We’re not kidding. Thanks to Intel’s Wireless Display technology, or WiDi, this 14-inch notebook can stream your favorite online content to an HDTV near you. We have to admit this particular feature ranks high in our neat-o-meter. Where it usually takes an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor for support plus a standalone adapter box connected to your TV with an HDMI cable, the CR420 offers all this and more.

Rockchip Tease Desk-Bound Smartphone

A rather odd device graced the Rockchip booth at the recently concluded IFA 2010: a smartphone for your desk. We’re talking 3G connectivity, Android OS and a LCD touchscreen here. Let’s not forget to mention the webcam.

Of course, don’t forget the usual accoutrements like a dull old-school handset and speakerphone functionality. Done.

Georgia Tech Scientists Build Robots That Deceive

The whole point of the nimble bots unveiled by a team of Georgia Tech scientists recently is to deceive bad guys while conducting missions. The news first surfaced on the September 3 issue of The International Journal of Social Robotics. If such a devious capability leaves you uncomfortable, do not fear. The robots won’t be seen in a battlefield for a decade at least. But why build such machines exist in the first place?

Scientist Says Brainwave Readings Could Snag Terrorists

Of all the cult sci-fi films out there, I seems like Minority Report is fast becoming the template for our future. Hardly a week after we reported on billboards that profile us, a psychologist has proposed a new method of uncovering terrorist plots by reading a particular brainwave.

Businessweek Serves Up A Portait Of Foxconn CEO

Utter the name “Foxconn” and the fastest response you’ll get would be somewhere along the lines of where-distressed-employees-jump-off-buildings. This can’t be farther from the truth, with almost a dozen fatalities in the manufacturer’s sprawling industrial facility despite the presence of safety nets.

Tokyoflash Watch Concept Tells Time with Words

Tokyoflash is renowned for making some of the strangest, coolest, and most unusable watches on the planet. The watches that the company sells are usually impossibly hard to read. Anytime you have to read instructions just to tell the time on the watch it’s more work than I am interested in. I still get stumped by watches with no numbers sometimes.

The latest watch from Tokyoflash is a concept and it was developed by a 14-year-old kid. The thing is cool and seems to lack an official name. The silver watch has a large rectangular face and instead of arcane symbols, flashing lights, or plain numbers the watch uses words to tell the time.

You Just Gotta Have A Voltron USB Stick

We’ll spare you the details and just insist you grab one now! Why? Because it’s a Voltron USB stick! Though the picture suggests almost Lego-like features, claw hands and all, we see the coolest thing ever to be stuck on your PC. Where does the USB bit come in, you ask? It’s on the torso. You pull Voltron’s legs out.

So okay, if you want a boring specs list here it is: 2 GB capacity, a detachable flaming sword (a.k.a. the height of coolness), a light up chest shield and a preloaded remaster of a classic Voltron episode.

Griffin Debuts Woogie Case for iPhone or iPod touch

Of all the harsh conditions, trials and tribulations that your iPhone or iPod touch will face, the most risky is probably a young kid. Kids haven’t typically learned the art of handling devices with kid gloves if you know what I mean. Sure, you can cram a case onto your iPhone and hope for the best, but kids can break stuff before you know your iPhone is missing.

Griffin has unveiled a cute case for the iPhone or touch that is directly aimed at kids. The thing is a bright green device that looks like a flower to me called Woogie. In the center of the six-armed case is a plastic sleeve that you can put the iPhone or touch into. The clear screen protector still allows the screen to respond to touch and function normally.
