Apple will be holding their iPad press event later today, we are also expecting to see a number of other devices at the event, one of those is the new Apple TV.
The new Apple TV is expected to get a major update, with a wide range of new features, as well as some new hardware, but the software is where the major update is expected to come.
We already know that Apple will bring HomeKit support for home automation to their existing Apple TV in the next software release, and the new Apple TV is expected to be a central part of Apple’s home automation plans.
The Apple TV originally started out as a hobby for Apple, the device has turned into a popular product, and by enabling the devices to be used as a home automation Hub, this could help Apple sell considerably more units of their Apple TV device.
Another major update for the Apple TV, which has been rumored for some time is apps and games, and the new Apple TV s rumored to come with the ability to run apps and games from the iTunes App store.
If Apple does enable gaming on the new Apple TV, then we would expect the company to either launch their own game controller for the device, or announce a range of game controller accessories with third party manufacturers.
Of course a lot of this is speculation, we are pretty sure that HomeKit will be a major feature in the next generation Apple TV, lets hope apps and games are introduced as well, as this is one feature that Apple fans have been wanting for some time.
Apple will also introduce their new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 at their press event later today, we are also expecting to see a new Retina iMac, and a new Mac Mini, plus get information on the release date of OS X Yosemite and iOS 8.1 plus Apple Pay.
