Who Are Apple Really After In Their HTC Lawsuit?

Yesterday Apple [AAPL] announced that it would be suing smartphone maker HTC, for allegedly infringing more than twenty patents relating to Apple’s iPhone, and relating to multi touch.

The majority of the patents relate to smartphones produced by HTC running Google’s Android smartphone OS, as well as a couple related to windows mobile, but is HTC Apple’s real target, or are Apple looking to stop multi touch patents being infringed by Google’s Android OS?

iPad To Go On Sale March 26th

Rumors are rife on the web that Apple may be launching the their new iPad on March 26th. Both the MacRumors website and the Examiner have reported that the Apple iPad without 3G will be on sale at 6pm on Friday 26th March.

Also if you fancy queuing up to be one of the first to own the new iPad, you may receive a special gift for your trouble. According to the Examiner website.

This news goes against this weeks earlier rumors that Apple were experiencing inventory problems which might jeopardize the launch date which Apple would need to push back further.

No official statement has been released  but a Apple spokeswoman told Wired.com that the iPad was on schedule to ship by late March.

It is not clear whether this date is worldwide or US only, as we have been told by a source that the UK launch date for the Apple iPad is likely o be the beginning of April.

Playstation Network Problems Solved

As reported yesterday the Playstation Network was experiencing some serious problems for user. Well you will be pleased to know everything has now been corrected says Sony.

The problems emerged from an error within the internal clock on some PS3 systems that mistakenly recognized 2010 as a leap year. Upto 20 million players, excluding the latest, slimmer version of the PS3, may have been affected by the problems say Sony. But the error does not require a recall of the systems. In the end, all that was needed to address the problem was to wait for the console’s internal clock to jump forward a day.

Apple Suing HTC Over iPhone Patents

Apple [AAPL] has filed a lawsuit against mobile phone maker HTC over iPhone Patents. HTC make a number of mobile phones which run Google’s Android OS, and they also make the Google branded Nexus One smartphone.

The lawsuit was filed by Apple today at the US district court in Delaware, and with the US ITC. The lawsuit alleges that HTC has infringed on twenty Apple patents. All of these patents are related to Apple’s iPhone.

Asus EeeKeyboard PC Delayed

Yet again the retail launch of the Asus EeeKeyboard PC has been delayed after missing it promised February 2010 launch date.

After apologising the ASUS chairman Jonney Shih has released a statement saying the Asus EeeKeyboard PC will now be available this April.

Panasonic has launched a new convertible tablet, the Panasonic C1 Toughbook, which it is calling the worlds lightest convertible tablet with a twelve inch screen.

The Panasonic C1 Toughbook weighs in at just 3.2 pounds with a regular battery, but when you add in a second battery the weight is almost the same as tablets from rival manufacturers.

Skinput Touch Interface

Skinput is a new futuristic interface currently being developed by Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University. The system is the combination of two technologies, the ability to detect ultralow-frequency sound, and a microchip-sized projector.

This amazing interface can recognise which parts of the body has been tapped using the sounds that is created by the sin, bone and skeleton. The Skinput technology uses a band which is strapped on to the arm. The armband contains piezoelectric cantilevers, or sensors that measure pressure, acceleration and force.

Microsoft Mobile Surface

Whilst Microsoft [MSFT] Surface Computer looks very interesting and certainly would be a lot of fun to use, there is one major drawback with it, it’s expensive. Now it looks like Microsoft is working in a new version of the technology which may put it within the reach of the average user, Microsoft Mobile Surface.

Microsoft Mobile Surface links a mobile phone to a camera and a projector, the screen is then projected onto a flat surface and the user can then interact with the Mobile Surface.

Asus has launched its first nine inch ebook reader, the Asus DR900. The Asus DR-900 features a nine inch screen, and comes with built in WiFi, plus the option to add a 3G connection.

According to Asus the DR-900 features a battery which will last long enough for you to read 10,000 pages on a single charge, the display is touch sensitive and it will come with a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.

Acer Launches NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready Projectors

Acer has launched a pair of new video projectors which are capable of displaying 3D video, the Acer HS5360 and the Acer X121, both models feature NVIDIA’s 3D Vision Ready technology.

First up is the Acer H5360 which features a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, meaning it can display HD video in 720p. It features an illumination of up to 2500 ANSI lumen’s and a 3200:1 contrast ratio.

The Acer H5360 features one HDMI port, three RCA jacks, component video, S-video mini DIN, a 2.5mm audio mini jack and a 15 pin D-Dub connection so you can hook it up to a PC.

Marvel Comics has teamed up with RTC23 to release a range of HDTVs designed for the ultimate comic fans. The HDTVs will come featuring some of our favourite super heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor and Wolverine.
