The guys over at Tokyoflash have just released details of their latest watch concept, the Tokyoflash E-Paper Timing Watch. The Tokyoflash E-Paper Timing Watch concept uses E-Paper to display the time in negative space.

It also has a range of built in features which includes Bluetooth connectivity for your mobile phone, when you phone rings or you receive a text message the watch will vibrate.

IBM Use Light to Speed up Chip Communications

A team of scientists at IBM have created a technology that uses light to allow chips to communicate and replace the traditional methods using electrical signals via copper wires. The tiny silicon circuits called nanophotonic avalanche photodetectors use small pulses of light to communicate to each at super fast speeds receiving optical data signals at 40Gbps (billion bits per second) and simultaneously multiply them tenfold.

Mysterious Automatic Double Axis Tourbillon Watch

Built by master craftsman Thomas Prescher the hours and minutes of this amazing Automatic Double Axis Tourbillon Watch are located on the rotating cylinders at the top. Positioned between these is a spherical, moon phase calendar.

The automatic winding weight is located at the bottom of the watch face in a hammock style mechanism which also shows the day and month.The true magic of this watch is located in between both these parts, the Prescher constant force double-axis toubillon which is no full show.

Skinput Touch Interface

Skinput is a new futuristic interface currently being developed by Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University. The system is the combination of two technologies, the ability to detect ultralow-frequency sound, and a microchip-sized projector.

This amazing interface can recognise which parts of the body has been tapped using the sounds that is created by the sin, bone and skeleton. The Skinput technology uses a band which is strapped on to the arm. The armband contains piezoelectric cantilevers, or sensors that measure pressure, acceleration and force.

The Sidewinder Watch Phone

Watch phones are a pretty new technology and the ones we have seen so far from companies like LG have pretty basic functions, maybe sometime in the not so distant future we will all be wearing watch phones that look as cool as this design concept from designer Susan Choo, the Sidewinder Watch Phone.

As you can see from the photos, the Sidewinder Watch Phone looks very stylish, and from the looks of the photos is has the same sort of functions as many of the smartphones available today.

Continuous Toppling Domino Sculpture

I’ve always enjoyed watching toppling domino world records and very occasionally setting up the odd small one from the box of dominoes  in the house when I was young. The only trouble is the hassle of setting them backup again.

Well the Ouroborus Domino sculpture rebuilds itself, so no worries about hoemany times you run it. Check out the video of the sculpture in action after the break.

The Grass Lamp

The Grass Lamp is a design concept from designer Marko Vuckovic, and it merges modern technology with nature, obviously it is designed for stylish apartments.

The lamp is made from PVC and it features a strip of lights which will grow whatever plants you place inside the lamp, although in the concept it features grass, I suppose you could grow virtually anything in there.
