This morning we heard a rumor that Apple were going to purchased in a deal worth $3.2 Billion, and a couple of hours ago the deal was basically confirmed by Dr Dre.
The confirmation came in the form of a video posted online by rapper and actor Tyrese Gibson, which included Dr Dre, and he also confirmed the deal on Instagram, the posts have now been removed from both Facebook and Instagram, but you can see a screenshot below.
Beats Electronics boss and veteran music industry executive Jimmy Iovine is in talks to join Apple as a “special adviser” to Tim Cook on creative matters, two sources close to talks tell The Post.
Iovine, who is the co-creator of Beats with partner Dr. Dre, is also chairman of Universal Music Group’s Interscope, Geffen and A&M labels, home to Lady Gaga and Eminem, among others
The deal will make Dr Dre the first ‘Hip Hop billionaire’, and the company’s CEO Jimmy Iovine is rumored to be joining Apple as a special adviser.
As yet Apple has not confirmed their purchase of Beats Audio, although we can expect an official announcement soon, and we suspect that Apple had something to do with removing the video and post from Facebook about the deal.
