The iOS 11.2 software update is expected to launch sometime this month. It would appear that we are getting close to release as Apple has released iOS 11.2 beta 5. The fifth beta is normally the final one released before the public release of the software.
The iOS 11.2 beta 5 software is now available to members of the Apple Developer Program and also members of their Public Beta Testing Program. The software is available as an over the air update for registered devices.
The new iOS 11.2 software update will bring a range of new features to the iPhone and iPad. This will include the new Apple Pay Cash. This is a new mobile payments system which is part of Apple Pay. With Apple Pay Cash you can sent money to your friends and family or basically anyone with your iPhone. Once the money is received it can either be spent using Apple Pay or can be withdrawn to your bank account.
The update will also enable faster wireless charging on Apple’s iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, it will support the faster 7.5W wireless charging with the update. This will work with devices that support this faster charging.
As this is the fifth beta of iOS 11.2 we are expecting Apple to release the software to everyone some time soon. We suspect the software update will land early next week, probably on Tuesday.
