Sphero the company behind the design of the awesome Star Wars BB-8 robot has this week announced that its has raised a further $45 million in funding from the likes of Mercato, Disney and more.
The BB-8 robot is one of the new additions to the cast of the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie that will be exploding on to screens towards the end of this year.
Paul Berberian, the CEO of Sphero, says that the company hadn’t been planning to raise money this year. Last year the company raised $20 million in funding and as we all expected the Star Wars deal has definitely raised interest in the company and its products.
Sphero currently offers smartphone controlled remote controlled vehicles in the form of Ollie and the original Sphero that launched via Kickstarter.
