Back in October of this year, we learned that Sony would be launching a PlayStation App for Android devices. Before that we had heard that the application was in the works and would allow gamers to keep connected with friends and other content from their PlayStation 4 console on the go. Sony has announced today that the PlayStation app is officially available.
The app is available for Android users on Google Play right now. It’s also available right now for iOS devices via the App Store. The app launch is only a couple days before the official launch of the PlayStation 4 in North America. The app will also be launching in other countries a few days prior to the official launch of the PlayStation 4 console in those countries.
The application will allow gamers to see what their friends are playing on the go, compare trophies, view profiles, and view their recent activity. Gamers will also be able to chat with their friends from within the app and receive notifications, game alerts, and invitations. The app will also allow mobile devices to be used as an on-screen keyboard for the PlayStation 4 console.
