This week the highly anticipated Control action-adventure video game developed by Remedy Entertainment launched on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC systems providing a single player, third person shooter. If you are interested in learning more about the gameplay you can expect on the PlayStation 4 platform check out the video below created by the team over at PlayStation Underground.
“Control is set in a modern world wherein supernatural or “paranatural” phenomena occur globally as a result of Altered World Events, intrusions upon ordinary reality shaped by the human collective unconscious. The Federal Bureau of Control, a secret U.S. government agency, is tasked with investigating these AWEs and collecting the artifacts they leave behind. Among these artifacts are Altered Items, which are mundane archetypal objects which are imbued with supernatural power, and Objects of Power, unique Altered Items which can grant individuals special abilities when “bound.” “
“AWEs are connected to various “dimensions” (implied to be parallel universes), which align with Earth’s reality as a result of paranatural “resonance.” The Bureau’s headquarters, the Oldest House, is a shifting skyscraper which defies the ordinary laws of spacetime, far larger on the inside than on the outside. Within the Oldest House are various “Thresholds” leading to alternate dimensions, through which unknown forces occasionally leak in, which the Bureau deals with. The Oldest House seems to be governed by the Astral Plane, a vast white void which the Bureau investigates by dispatching agents there referred to as “astralnauts.””
