Apple’s iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are now available to buy. We have already seen some teardown photos of the new iPhones and also a torture test video.
Now we have an unboxing video from Marques Brownlee of both the new iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus and we get to have a good look at both devices and some of their features.
Design and Build Quality
Both these new iPhones get a number of upgrades over the existing devices, this includes a new design with a glass back, plus Apple’s new A11 Bionic mobile processor. The glass back not only gives the phones a premium look and feel but also enables wireless charging, a feature that has been long-awaited by Apple fans. The glass is reinforced with a steel and copper structure, making it durable and resistant to bending. However, it is still glass, so a case is recommended to prevent any potential damage from drops.
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come in three colors: Silver, Space Gray, and a new Gold finish. The Gold finish is a blend of the previous Gold and Rose Gold colors, giving it a sophisticated and elegant look. The devices are also IP67 rated, meaning they are dust and water-resistant, which adds an extra layer of protection for everyday use.
Performance and Features
Under the hood, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are powered by Apple’s A11 Bionic chip, which is a six-core processor with two performance cores that are 25% faster and four efficiency cores that are 70% faster than the A10 Fusion chip found in the iPhone 7. This makes the new iPhones incredibly fast and efficient, capable of handling demanding tasks and multitasking with ease. The A11 Bionic chip also includes a neural engine for machine learning tasks, which enhances features like Face ID, Animoji, and augmented reality applications.
The iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, while the 8 Plus boasts a larger 5.5-inch Retina HD display. Both displays support True Tone technology, which adjusts the white balance to match the surrounding light for a more natural viewing experience. They also support HDR10 and Dolby Vision, providing stunning visuals with high dynamic range content.
The camera systems on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have also been improved. The iPhone 8 has a single 12-megapixel rear camera with a larger and faster sensor, new color filter, and deeper pixels. The 8 Plus features a dual-camera system with a wide-angle and telephoto lens, allowing for optical zoom and Portrait mode with Portrait Lighting, which simulates studio lighting effects.
You can find out more details about the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus over at Apple’s official website. Prices for the new iPhones start at $699 for the iPhone 8 and $799 for the 8 Plus. These prices reflect the base models with 64GB of storage, but there are also 256GB models available for those who need more space for apps, photos, and videos.
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus offer significant upgrades in design, performance, and features compared to their predecessors. With the addition of wireless charging, improved cameras, and the powerful A11 Bionic chip, these new iPhones are a compelling choice for anyone looking to upgrade their smartphone.
