Apple has announced some new Emoji that will be coming to iOS later this year. These new Emoji will be part of the new Emoji 11.0 standard.
There will be more than 70 new Emoji launching later this year when Apple launches their new iOS 12. This is expected to land sometime in September along with the new iPhone X handsets.
More than 70 new emoji characters are coming to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac later this year in a free software update. The new emoji designs, created based on approved characters in Unicode 11.0, include even more hair options to better represent people with red hair, grey hair, and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, and new smiley faces that bring more expression to Messages with a cold face, party face, pleading face, and a face with hearts.
Expanded Representation and Inclusivity
One of the most significant aspects of this update is the expanded representation and inclusivity. Apple has made a concerted effort to ensure that more people feel represented in their emoji options. The addition of red hair, grey hair, and curly hair options allows users to choose emojis that more closely resemble their own appearance. This is a step forward in making digital communication more inclusive and personalized.
The new bald emoji is another example of this inclusivity. For individuals who are bald, having an emoji that represents them can be a small but meaningful addition to their digital interactions. These updates reflect a broader trend in technology towards greater representation and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone can see themselves in the digital tools they use every day.
New Smiley Faces and Expressions
In addition to the new hair options, Apple is also introducing a variety of new smiley faces and expressions. These new emojis include a cold face, party face, pleading face, and a face with hearts. Each of these new expressions adds a new layer of nuance to digital communication, allowing users to convey a wider range of emotions and reactions.
For example, the cold face emoji can be used to express feeling chilly or to react to a cold situation, while the party face emoji is perfect for celebrating special occasions or expressing excitement. The pleading face emoji can convey a sense of begging or desperation, and the face with hearts is ideal for expressing love and affection.
These new smiley faces and expressions are designed to make digital communication more expressive and dynamic. They allow users to convey their emotions more accurately and effectively, enhancing the overall messaging experience.
Additional New Emoji Characters
Beyond the new hair options and smiley faces, the Emoji 11.0 standard includes a variety of other new characters. These include new animals, food items, and objects. For example, users can look forward to new animal emojis such as a kangaroo, peacock, parrot, and lobster. These additions provide more options for users to express their interests and experiences.
New food emojis include items like a mango, lettuce, cupcake, and mooncake. These additions reflect the diverse culinary experiences of users around the world and provide more options for discussing food and dining in digital conversations.
There are also new object emojis, such as a softball, skateboard, luggage, and compass. These additions provide more ways for users to discuss their hobbies, travel experiences, and daily activities.
