Using a 3D printer is great but most models straight from the printer need a little cleaning up and what better than a cordless rechargeable hot tool. Mechanical engineer Isaac Porras has taken to Kickstarter once again to launch the new Solderdoodle Plus, a cordless USB rechargeable multitool that can be used as a soldering iron, hot knife, needle, spade, scooper and wood burning tool. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the Solderdoodle Plus which is now available to back with early bird pledges available from $41 or roughly £32.
If all goes well and the Kickstarter campaign is successful you can expect to receive your Solderdoodle Plus in roughly 12 months time. Isaac explains a little more about its design, features and uses.
“Solderdoodle Plus is a cordless all-in-one soldering iron, 3D print finishing tool, and wood burning tool. Twice as powerful as the original Solderdoodle, it features 10 Watts of adjustable power with touch control and LED status indicators. Safety features include a sleep mode that disables the unit when not in use, low battery warning, and a dual-cell battery charge controller.
Solderdoodle was originally a portable soldering iron with the ability to last over 1 hour above 500ºF, and charge from a USB port. Solderdoodle Plus uses a high-efficiency, high-power charge controller, uses similar batteries that are used in the Tesla electric car, and uses seven different replaceable tips.”
