The new Honda NSX is now official, it has been unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show and it will launch as the Acura NSX.
The new Accura NSX launches 25 years after the original Honda NSX, and it will feature a mid mounted DOHC V6 engine with twin turbos and a newly developed Acura 9 speed DCT gearbox.
“Our commitment was to create an all-new NSX that is true to the heritage of NSX – a supercar that delivers a new driving experience, one where every part of the vehicle is respectful of the smartest part of the car, the driver,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager of the Acura division. “The soul of a car is the emotional connection it makes with the driver. With the NSX, that connection will be intense and immediate.”
As well as a mid mounted petrol engine, the new Acura NSX also comes with with three electric motors, the company has not revealed any performance figures for the new NSX as yet.
Two of the electric motors are mounted at the front of the vehicle and each one is used to drive an individual wheel, the third electric motor is located between the engine and gearbox and is designed to aid braking, acceleration and shifting performance.
Honda have yet to reveal how much the new Acura NSX will retail for, the company will start taking orders on their new supercar this summer, you can find out more information over at Honda at the link below.
