BMW have been teasing their new BMW 8 Series coupe and the car is now official. The new 8 Series was unveiled at Le Mans over the weekend and it looks amazing from the photos.
The old 8 series was an popular car for BMW and the new one looks like it will also end up being a hit, have a look at the photos above and below.
The presentation of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe adds a brand new chapter to the Bavarian premium carmaker’s long history of sensational sports cars – and gets its current model offensive in the luxury segment off to a particularly dynamic start. The BMW 8 Series Coupe is a dream car boasting outstanding performance, emotion-stirring design, state-of-the-art luxury and exceptionally advanced equipment features when it comes to display and control technology, driver assistance and connectivity.
There will be two versions of the BMW 8 Series at launch, the 840d xDrive which will come with a 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine that produces 316 horsepower and comes with 501 lb ft of torque, this will have a 0 to 62 miles per hour time of 4.9 seconds.
The more powerful version of the two is the M850i xDrive which comes with a 4.4 litre V8 petrol engine that produces 523 horsepower and 554 lb ft of torque. This versions will have a 0 to 62 miles per hour time of just 3.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 miles per hour.
There will also be a BMW M8 although this model has not been made official as yet so we do not have any specifications or performance figures as yet.Considering the performance figures for the M850i are so impressive, it will be interesting to see what improvements are made for the M8.
The new 8 Series will go on ale in November and prices for the car will start at £76,270 for the 840d and £100,045 for the M850i.
