Spotify has today announced that it is added a new Pandora style radio service to its iPad and iPhone applications, providing both free and premium Spotify users in the US with access to the new service. Competing directly with the Pandora radio service and removing the need to have both a Pandora and Spotify account.
The latest Spotify app with the included radio service enables listeners to create personalised radio stations from the 16 million strong Spotify catalog, saving individual tracks from them to playlists, and share radio stations with friends.
Premium Spotify users who use the new radio service will enjoy it advertising free and will have the ability to carry out unlimited skips, says Spotify. Spotify product VP Charlie Hellman, explained in the press release:
“Our focus has always been on creating an amazing user experience,”-“The radio feature we’ve added to our iPhone and iPad apps gives users the ability to discover, listen, and save what they like on the go — all within one app — for free.”
The newly updated Spotify IOS applications will soon be available to download from the Apple iTunes App Store free of charge.
