Demand for the new iPhone 11 Pro handsets have been high since they launched back in September and now it looks like Samsung is having to increase supply of the OLED panels for the handsets.
Both the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max handsets have OLED displays, Sansung is one of the major suppliers of these displays.
According to a recent report Samsung is expected to supply Apple with around 50 million units of the displays before the end of the year.
In the third quarter, ending September, the display firm supplied 22.2 million units of 5.85-inch and 6.46-inch panels for Apple’s iPhones –3.9 million in July, 8.4 million in August, and 9.9 million in September. The supply volume in September, in particular, is 40 percent higher than the initially planned 6.9 million units, the report said.
Apple’s new iPhone 11 Pro handsets are expected to remain popular for the rest of the year, the company is expected to launch a cheaper device in early 2020, the iPhone SE which will land in the first quarter.
