Raspberry Pi enthusiasts looking to build an all-in-one computer system using the awesome Raspberry Pi mini PC may be interested in a new case published to the Thingiverse website this week. Designed to incorporate a 3.5″ TFT touchscreen display available from online retailers such as and others from as little as £24, this innovative case offers a compact and efficient solution for creating a portable and functional Raspberry Pi setup.
Design and Features
Thingiverse member “srwilson58” who created the Raspberry Pi 3D printer case explains a little more about the inspiration behind the design and features. “This Slip Case is somewhat of a remix, and I’m not sure who should get credit for the original design, but it has been redrawn and heavily modified. I added much-needed venting and changed the design to accommodate a Waveshare 3.5″ RPi LCD (B) display. This case should fit all Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 versions. I also wanted a stand that had an adjustable viewing angle. The rotating uprights are able to be adjusted to several detented positions. The included stand was designed from scratch by me. No fastening hardware required. Everything snaps or press-fits together. Assembly should be self-explanatory by viewing the pictures.”
The case not only provides a snug fit for the Raspberry Pi and the display but also ensures that the components are well-ventilated, preventing overheating during extended use. The adjustable stand is a particularly useful feature, allowing users to set the screen at the most comfortable viewing angle, whether they are coding, watching videos, or using the Pi for other applications.
Practical Applications and Benefits
This all-in-one case design opens up a myriad of possibilities for Raspberry Pi users. For instance, educators can use this setup to create affordable computer labs for teaching programming and electronics. The compact nature of the case makes it easy to transport, allowing students to carry their projects between home and school.
Hobbyists and makers can also benefit from this design by using it as a base for various DIY projects. For example, it can be used to build a custom home automation system, a portable media center, or even a retro gaming console. The versatility of the Raspberry Pi, combined with the convenience of this all-in-one case, makes it an excellent choice for a wide range of applications.
Moreover, the case’s design, which requires no additional fastening hardware, simplifies the assembly process. This is particularly advantageous for beginners who may not have extensive experience with electronics or 3D printing. By following the provided pictures, users can easily put together their all-in-one Raspberry Pi computer without the need for specialized tools or skills.
In addition to its practical benefits, the case also offers an aesthetically pleasing solution for housing the Raspberry Pi. The sleek design and adjustable stand make it an attractive addition to any workspace or home setup. Whether used for educational purposes, personal projects, or professional applications, this all-in-one case enhances the functionality and appeal of the Raspberry Pi.
The new Raspberry Pi all-in-one computer case designed by Thingiverse member “srwilson58” is a valuable addition to the Raspberry Pi community. Its thoughtful design, ease of assembly, and practical applications make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to create a compact and versatile Raspberry Pi setup. Whether you are an educator, hobbyist, or professional, this case provides a convenient and efficient solution for housing your Raspberry Pi and touchscreen display.
