Photographers searching for a fully featured lightweight tripod may be interested in the new Travel Tripod launch this month by photographic accessory specialists Peak Design. Launched via Kickstarter the aluminium and carbon fibre camera tripod campaign has raised more than $5 million thanks to over 12,000 backers with still 50 days remaining on its campaign.
The aluminium Travel Tripod is priced from $289 or roughly £228 while the carbon fibre camera tripod is priced from $479 or roughly £378, with worldwide delivery expected to take place during December 2019. Sporting plenty of features the Travel Tripod can be used with smartphones or more traditional DSLR cameras and offers pro performance at half the size.
“The Travel Tripod takes up half the volume of a traditional travel tripod. We also eliminated bulky, protruding knobs. The result? Every water bottle pocket on your bag is now also a tripod pocket, and you’re carrying a full sized tripod with professional capabilities. With traditional travel tripods, slow setup may mean a missed shot. Not with the Peak Design Travel Tripod. We designed strong, easy-to-use leg cam levers that can be operated together (no tedious twist locks!). With our architecture there’s no need for the legs to flip up/down when packing and unpacking. And, we topped it off with lightning-fast camera quick-attachment/release.”
“No more guessing which knob to turn or how far to turn it: a single and precision-engineered adjustment ring gives total articulation. Our locking ring gives you further stability and vibration reduction. But even without it, your camera is locked securely in place. The unique head design gives you greater range of articulation, and incorporates 3 portrait mode cutouts instead of 1.”
