We have been hearing more rumors about the new Microsoft Surface Phone recently and now it looks like the handset will launch in April of next year.
According to a recent report by Windows Central, the Microsoft Surface Phone will launch in April 2017 and the handset will be accompanied by a major Windows 10 Mobile update.
Microsoft will apparently released a Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 2 update at the same time as the Surface Phone and this will apparently be a major update to the platform.
The company is currently focusing on two key factors for their new flagship smartphone, one is making the handset the world’s most secure smartphone, the other is making it the best device for productivity.
We recently heard some rumored specifications of the new handset which included a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor, which has yet to be announced and also a massive 8GB of RAM.
The majority of the smartphones on the market at the moment come with 4GB of RAM and we have seen some 6GB handsets launch recently.
Microsoft is expected to continue to release updates to existing devices on their Windows 10 Mobile platform over the next 12 months, the company has already released a total of 11 updates to the platform over the last five months.
Sales of Microsoft’s Lumia devices have been much lower than the company had expected, it will be interesting to see if their new Surface Phone can turn things around.
