Lenovo has announced a new mobile broadband plan for buyers of its ThinkPad notebook computers that don’t want a contract and may only want access to mobile broadband here and there. The new plan is called Lenovo Mobile Access and offers several different packages to meet different needs for mobile broadband away from Wi-Fi networks.
The service will offer an option of only 30 minutes of access for $1.95. People wanting a full day of access will pay $8.95. There is no indication of data caps on either of those plans. People needing access on an ongoing basis will be able to sign up for a no contract monthly plan.
Lenovo hasn’t announced pricing on the monthly plans, but one will offer 2 GB of data in one will offer 6 GB of data. Presumably the pricing would be somewhere in the $30 monthly range. The service will be ready to go on any Lenovo notebook purchased with a mobile broadband modem inside.
