We have already seen some videos of the new iPhone XS and XS Max smartphones, and now we have one which gives us a good look at the iPhone XR.
The iPhone XR is the most affordable of the three iPhones announced yesterday, with prices starting at $749. The handset comes in a range of different colors, making it a vibrant addition to Apple’s lineup.
Color Options and Design
The new XR will come in a choice of White, Black, Blue, Yellow, Coral, and (PRODUCT)RED. This diverse color palette is designed to appeal to a wide range of users, from those who prefer classic tones to those who enjoy more vibrant hues. Have a look at the handsets below in the video.
As we can see from the video, the design of the new XR is similar to that of the XS. The handset uses the same wide-angle lens camera but only has one camera, unlike the dual-camera setup found on the XS and XS Max. This single-camera system is still quite capable, offering features like Portrait Mode and Smart HDR.
Display and Performance
One of the key differences between the iPhone XR and its more expensive siblings is the display. The XR features an LCD display, which Apple calls the “Liquid Retina” display, instead of the OLED display found on the XS and XS Max. While the LCD display may not offer the same deep blacks and vibrant colors as an OLED, it is still a high-quality screen with excellent color accuracy and brightness.
Under the hood, the iPhone XR is powered by the same A12 Bionic chip found in the XS and XS Max. This means that despite being the more affordable option, the XR does not compromise on performance. The A12 Bionic chip is incredibly powerful, offering smooth performance for everything from gaming to augmented reality applications.
Battery Life and Additional Features
Another area where the iPhone XR shines is battery life. Apple claims that the XR offers the longest battery life of any iPhone to date. This is partly due to the efficiency of the A12 Bionic chip and partly due to the larger battery that the XR can accommodate thanks to its slightly thicker design.
The iPhone XR also supports wireless charging and is compatible with Apple’s fast charging technology, although you will need to purchase a fast charger separately to take advantage of this feature. Additionally, the XR is water and dust resistant with an IP67 rating, meaning it can withstand being submerged in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
Apple will launch their new iPhone XR handsets in October, and prices for the device will start at $749 in the US and £749 in the UK. This makes the XR a compelling option for those who want a new iPhone with many of the latest features but at a more accessible price point.
