Apple will release their new iPhone 8 later this year, the handset is expected in September. We are already starting to hear rumors about next years iPhone, the iPhone 9.
We recently heard that Samsung will be supplying the chips for Apple’s iPhone 9 and according to a recent report, LG will be supplying the batteries for the handset.
Apple normally goes for multiple suppliers for its different components for the iPhone, but it would appear that LG may end up being the sold battery supplier for the iPhone 9. According to a recent report from the Korea Economic Daily, LG has invested heavily in production facilities for the batteries.
“LG has invested hundred of billions of Korean won for related facilities and plans to start mass production from early next year,” the Korean-language report quoted a source in the chemical industry as saying.
The battery for the new iPhone 9 will apparently be L shaped, this is also something that Apple will be introducing with this years iPhone 8. The iPhone 8 will come with an OLED display, Apple will also launch two other handsets with LCD displays. Next year all of Apple’s iPhone are expected to come with an OLED display, this will include the new iPhone 9.
We are looking forward to find out more details about this years iPhones, the handsets expected in September include the iPhone 8, iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus.
