HTC has released a lot of smartphones over the last twelve months. some in the high end range and some in the budget range, although HTC’s latest devices like the HTC One X have been designed to take on other premium smartphones.
Now HTC has confirmed that they will be focusing their efforts on high end devices, rather than budget devices, according to HTC’s CEO Peter Chou.
Peter Chou has said that the company wouldn’t ‘destroy‘ its brand by releasing ‘cheap, cheap phones’ in an attempt to increase product shipments, and he also said that “We insist on using better materials to make better products that offer premium experience. Many consumers like that.”
If HTC are concentrating on the higher end devices, then they will probably be releasing a lot less smartphones than they have done over the past year, which wouldn’t really be a bad thing.
