Google is expected to launch two new Nexus devices later this year. One of them is the Nexus 6 smartphone, while the second one is a 9-inch tablet. Surprisingly, it seems both of these devices will be manufactured by HTC.
We’ve seen several leaks in the past few weeks about the purported Nexus 9 or 8 or whatever it will be called when it launches. Rumors suggest it’s known as HTC T1 internally. Recently, the Chinese leaked @upleaks mentioned it’s going to launch on October 9th, a little earlier then most of us expected it to launch.
If this is true, it means Google is gearing up to launch the upcoming Nexus 9 tablet, as well as the Android L OS a little earlier then every Android Geeks expected. Previously, Google has released the new Nexus devices and operating system in late October time frame so it’s going to be a surprising news for Android fans if that happens early.
Additionally, if it’s the availability date, we may see the device announcement coming in a little earlier. It seems September/October is going to be an exciting month where we get to see most of the flagship devices from big manufacturers.
As for the specifications, HTC T1 aka Volantis will come with an 8.9-inch display sporting a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels with a 64-bit Tegra K1 processor under the hood for processing power. Rumors also suggest the tablet will come with 4GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, 8MP camera with OIS, 3MP front-facing camera, and should feature the latest Android L as its operating system.
There’s no official word from Google about the launch so take this with a pinch of salt. We’ll update you as soon as any other information comes up.
