It’s been a while since we started hearing about HTC working on a Android. The last tablet venture from the Taiwanese OEM didn’t turn out to be great, but the next one, if real, could since its rumored to be the upcoming Nexus tablet codenamed Volantis.
We’ve heard about the alleged tablet on a number of occasions in the past few days, and today, we have some more information about the alleged HTC Volantis. This time, @evleaks is back with some more information about the tablet, including its specifications.
Well, @evleaks shared a lot of interesting detail about the alleged tablet. Starting with the press renders we’ve seen so far (including the one shown above), he says they are fake but the tablet will come with a aluminium unibody design. He also posted a macro shot of the alleged tablet with one arrow pointing at the name Flounder, while the other one says “Android Silver OS Alpha 1.4” — take a closer look.
The specifications shared by the notorious one differs a little bit from what we’ve heard in the past. The alleged tablet will come with a 64-bit Tegra K1 processor, but @evleaks said the tablet is being tested with a Snapdragon 810 on board. The alleged HTC Volantis is being tested with a 8.9-inch display with a resolution of 1680 x 1050, but the final product should ship with 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution. He also said the tablet could come with a whopping 5 GB of RAM, but its not final, and it could come with 2GB of RAM which we heard before. Other rumored specifications include 64GB of RAM, a 5MP camera but earlier rumor suggested it’s 8MP and BoomSound speakers.
There’s no word from HTC or Google about its existence, so let’s just take this with a proverbial amount of salt. We’ll update you if we come across any other information.
