Hobbyists and makers that are looking for a project to keep them busy over the weekend may be interested in a new Fibonacci Clock Kit which has been added to the Adafruit range of products and is now available from their online store.
The Fibonacci clock kit contains everything you need to create your very own working and very unique timepiece. Adafruit explain a little more about how the clock actually tells you the time.
The secret is in the Fibonacci sequence. Green is minutes, red is hours, and purple counts as both minutes AND hours. Each square, depending on the size of the square, has a number that corresponds to help you tell time. So, for example, the top left is two, the two small squares are one, and so on. When you add the squares together and take into account the colors, you can tell the time. Sound complicated? Well…yeah – but that’s part of the fun and this is a great reminder of the beauty of mathematics that’s also functional (for the math inclined.)
For more information on the Fibonacci clock kit which is now available to purchase priced at $84.95 jump over to the official Adafruit online store for full details.
