Gamers who plan to purchase the PlayStation 4 as their next-generation console of choice will be very disappointed to hear the latest news from Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment. Respawn has announced that it has just learned the EA signed an agreement with Microsoft guaranteeing Titanfall will be an Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC exclusive for the life of the game. That means Titanfall will never come to the PlayStation 4.
As surprising as that announcement is likely to be for many gamers out there, Respawn appears to have been just as surprised. EA didn’t include the game developer in talks with Microsoft and agreed to the exclusive without Respawn even knowing. Respawn does point out that it will be developing video games for the PlayStation 4 console.
This leaves the door open for Titanfall 2 to come to the PlayStation 4 at some point in the future. Even though Titanfall has yet to launch, there will undoubtedly be a second game in the franchise and probably many more. Respawn studio head Vince Zampella wrote via twitter, “Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently =(”
