If you were hoping to get hold of your new Ataribox Atari console sometime next year by pre-ordering your hardware today, you will be disappointed to learn that Atari has pushed back its Ataribox pre-orders due to development issues. Atari sent out an email today explaining that the consoles development is taking longer than expected “to create the platform and ecosystem the Atari community deserves.” As with anything new it’s always better to get it right, than ship a substandard product which users will be disappointed with.
Let’s hope that Atari is able to sort the development issues with the Ataribox Atari console, and publishes a new launch plan very soon, updating their preorder dates and maybe even announcing a possible release date sometime in 2018. As soon as more information is made available by Atari we will keep you up-to-date as always. Until then jump over to the official Atari website where a few teaser images are available of the console and its unique retro style design.
The Ataribox is expected to be launched via a crowdfunding campaign that is expected to start sometime during 2018, with a shipping date expected to take place during spring 2018, although this might now have been pushed back if development issues are being experienced by Atari.
