Apple recently released the fourth developer beta of iOS 12 and now they have also released their new iOS 12 Public Beta 3.
The iOS 12 Public Beta 3 is basically the same software as the fourth developer beta that developers received recently. This means that public beta testers now have access to the same features and improvements that developers have been working with.
New Features in iOS 12
The new iOS 12 software will bring a wide range of new features to the iPhone and iPad. One of the most anticipated features is the major speed and performance improvements. Apple has focused on enhancing the overall user experience by making the operating system faster and more responsive. For instance, apps launch up to 40% faster, the keyboard appears up to 50% faster, and the camera opens up to 70% faster.
We recently saw some speed test videos of the latest beta of iOS 12, which demonstrated these improvements in real-world scenarios. Users with older devices, such as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s, will particularly benefit from these enhancements, making their devices feel more modern and efficient.
Enhanced Siri and Screen Time
The software will also come with a new updated version of Apple’s Siri. Siri has become more intelligent and capable, with new features like Siri Shortcuts, which allow users to create custom voice commands to trigger specific actions in apps. For example, you can create a shortcut to order your favorite coffee from a specific app just by saying, “Order my coffee.”
Another significant addition is the new Screen Time feature. This feature provides detailed insights into how much time you spend on your iPhone or iPad. It breaks down usage by app and category, allowing you to see which apps are consuming most of your time. Screen Time also includes tools to help you manage your usage, such as App Limits, which lets you set daily limits for specific apps, and Downtime, which schedules time away from the screen.
Apple is expected to release their iOS 12 software sometime in September along with their three new iPhone X handsets. These new devices are rumored to include a 5.8-inch model, a larger 6.5-inch model, and a more affordable 6.1-inch model with an LCD screen. The combination of new hardware and the enhanced iOS 12 software promises to deliver an exceptional user experience.
In addition to these major features, iOS 12 includes several other enhancements and improvements. For example, the Photos app has been updated with new search capabilities and sharing suggestions, making it easier to find and share your favorite moments. The Messages app now supports Memoji, customizable Animoji that you can create to look like yourself. Group FaceTime is another exciting feature, allowing you to video chat with up to 32 people simultaneously.
Overall, iOS 12 is shaping up to be a significant update that will enhance the performance and functionality of both new and older Apple devices. Public beta testers are encouraged to provide feedback to help Apple refine the software before its official release.
