Amazon has this week launched a new in-app purchasing API for both PC and Mac web based applications to be able to use. Amazon already has already enabled Android and Kindle Fire users to buy services through developers through apps and games via its secure e-commerce systems.
The release of the new Amazon in-app purchasing API makes it easier for developers to sell extra services and products through their applications to consumers. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Amazon in-app purchasing.
Previously customers wishing to purchase extra products of services from developers would have had to visit their website, create an account and so forth. Now customers can simply purchase products using their trusted Amazon account to make payments. Amazon explains:
“With today’s announcement, Amazon now provides In-App Purchasing services for Mac, PC and Web, Android and Kindle Fire developers, enabling them to offer Amazon’s millions of customers a convenient, trusted and secure buying experience,”
“We’re passionate about making game developers successful, and we’ll continue to build services that make monetization easier and remove undifferentiated heavy lifting from developers,” Frazzini said. “Game developers build games that are used across multiple platforms and mediums. In-App Purchasing for Mac, PC and Web-based games is our latest service that helps game developers grow their business and increase their customer base.”
“The In-App Purchasing (IAP) API lets you sell digital content and subscriptions–such as in-game currency, expansion packs, upgrades, magazine issues and more–from within your apps. You’ll find a quick start guide, documentation, references, and sample code to get up and running quickly.”
