Alienware as this week launched a new way to add extra graphics power to your Alienware laptop system using their newly unveiled Alienware Graphics Amplifier which is now available to preorder for $299 or £199 and provides an external dock housing for a separate graphics card.
Shipping of the new Alienware Graphics Amplifier is expected to start sometime next month in November 2014. But unfortunately the listed price does not include a graphics card of any description, which needs to be sourced and installed by yourself.
The Alienware Graphics Amplifier is equipped with a 460-watt power supply together with a PCIe x4 slot supporting nearly any graphics card with full-length, dual-width, PCIe x16, design and requiring up to 375 watts of power.
Alienware has also fitted the Graphics Amplifier with 4 x USB 3.0 ports so that it can be used to plug in keyboard and mouse or other peripherals depending on your setup and requirements, offering users the ability to attach up to eight displays if needed.
Unfortunately the new Alienware Graphics Amplifier will only work with Alienware laptops. For more information on the new Graphics Amplifier jump over to the Alienware website for details.
