Apple has used Qualcomm modems in its iPhones for quite some time, the 2018 iphone X handsets may end up using Intel modems.
Qualcomm and Apple are in the middle of a legal dispute and it looks like Apple has decided not to use the modems from Qualcomm in this years devices.
The news comes from Qualcomm itself who has said that it is not expecting to supply the modems for this years iPhone, this was revealed by the company’s finance boss George Davis, you can see what he had to say below.
“We believe Apple intends to solely use our competitor’s modems rather than our modems in its next iPhone release,”
It looks like Intel will be supplying the modems for this years handsets, although this has not been confirmed as yet. Apple are expected to announce three versions of the 2018 iPhone X in September, one with an LCD display and two with an OLED display.
