So maybe calling it a death ray is a bit of an exaggeration, but given the fact it can slice through several types of material and reduce crawling insects to a burnt crisp does certify it a low-yield death ray at best. The wicked mind behind this murderous (and fun) weapon is a wholesome chap named Ray Anthony who has posted his laser builds on YouTube for the world to see and emulate. This newest laser of his is quite the surprise since all of its materials are found within an unused PC.
We suggest you click on the source link for the exact details, but to give you an overview kindly read on. Take note, that red beam pictured above (yes, it’s slicing through electrical tape right there) is a fire hazard and should not be looked at without protective goggles, so safety first. If you ever go blind doing this, don’t say you weren’t warned.
Let us begin: You basically detach your power supply, the heat sinks on your motherboard and the lens from deep within your DVD drive. The lens is attached to a wire and then inserted into the CPU heat sink, which needs a hole bored right through it. The laser is powered by configuring the extruding wires on the power supply. If these instructions are a bit hazy and may cause your house to burn down, feel free to blame us.
