Teenage Engineering last week took the opportunity to unveil a new pocket-sized PO-12 synthesiser they have created which is expected to retail for around $49.
The PO-12 synthesiser created by Teenage Engineering is equipped with Silicon Labs 32-bit ARM microcontroller, 23 switches, two optimisation knobs, beats-per-minute LED and 1/8-inch audio jacks.
Innovative Features and Design
Other features of the very unique pocket-sized synthesiser include a handy wire stand that also doubles as a pitch bender, with options available for hip-hop, disco, and techno. This multifunctional stand is a testament to Teenage Engineering’s commitment to innovative design, ensuring that users can maximize their creative potential without needing additional equipment.
The PO-12 is not just about its compact size; it’s about delivering high-quality sound and versatility. The inclusion of 23 switches allows for a wide range of sound manipulations, making it suitable for both beginners and seasoned musicians. The two optimisation knobs provide further control over the sound, allowing users to tweak and perfect their beats.
Community and Availability
The creators of the pocket synthesiser, Teenage Engineering, had planned to give away a few devices at Moogfest 2014. However, all but the one seen in the above photograph were delayed by customs. This minor setback did not dampen the enthusiasm surrounding the PO-12, as it has already generated significant buzz within the music community.
For more information on the new PO-12 synthesiser, jump over to the Teenage Engineering website for details, when they are posted. The website is expected to provide comprehensive details, including user manuals, tutorials, and community forums where users can share their experiences and tips.
The PO-12 is part of a broader trend towards making music production more accessible and affordable. With its low price point and high functionality, it opens up new possibilities for aspiring musicians who may not have the budget for more expensive equipment. This democratization of music technology is a core value for Teenage Engineering, and the PO-12 exemplifies this mission.
Moreover, the PO-12’s portability means that musicians can create and experiment with music anywhere, whether they are on the go or in a studio. This flexibility is particularly appealing in today’s fast-paced world, where creativity can strike at any moment.
