Sony has announced that their new smartphone range, the Sony Xperia X handsets, are launching in Canada on the 23rd of June.
Sony is launching all versions of the device in Canada, and this includes the Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia X, and the Xperia X Performance.
Carrier Availability and Launch Dates
The handsets are coming to Virgin Mobile, Bell, Rogers, Wind Mobile, and Videotron. The Xperia X Performance will launch on the 23rd of June on both Bell and Rogers. This model is particularly anticipated due to its high-end specifications, including a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 23-megapixel rear camera, making it a strong contender in the premium smartphone market.
The Sony Xperia XA will be made available on Bell and Virgin Mobile on the 23rd of June. It is also coming to Wind Mobile on the 14th of July. The Xperia XA is designed to be a more budget-friendly option, featuring a MediaTek MT6755 processor and a 13-megapixel rear camera, which still offers a solid performance for everyday use.
Sony is also launching the Xperia X on both Videotron and Wind Mobile on the 29th of June and 14th of July, respectively. The Xperia X sits in the middle of the range, offering a balance of performance and price with its Snapdragon 650 processor and 23-megapixel rear camera. This model is expected to appeal to users looking for a high-quality device without the premium price tag.
The Xperia XA Ultra is also coming to Wind Mobile on the 14th of July. This model stands out with its large 6-inch display and a 16-megapixel front camera, making it an excellent choice for selfie enthusiasts and those who consume a lot of media on their phones.
Features and Specifications
Each model in the Xperia X series offers unique features tailored to different user needs. The Xperia XA, for instance, is designed with a borderless display, providing an edge-to-edge viewing experience that is both immersive and stylish. It also includes a 2300mAh battery, which, combined with Sony’s battery management technology, promises up to two days of usage on a single charge.
The Xperia XA Ultra, on the other hand, is geared towards users who prioritize screen size and camera quality. Its 6-inch Full HD display is perfect for watching videos and playing games, while the 16-megapixel front camera with optical image stabilization ensures sharp and clear selfies even in low light conditions.
The Xperia X Performance is the flagship model, boasting water resistance, a fingerprint sensor for added security, and high-resolution audio support for an enhanced listening experience. Its 2700mAh battery, coupled with Quick Charge 3.0, ensures that users can quickly top up their battery and stay connected throughout the day.
The Xperia X, positioned between the XA and the X Performance, offers a 5-inch Full HD display, a 2620mAh battery, and a 13-megapixel front camera. It also features predictive hybrid autofocus, which can track and predict the movement of subjects, ensuring that photos are always in sharp focus.
As yet, there are no details on pricing from each of the carriers. However, given the range of models and their varying specifications, it is expected that there will be options to suit different budgets and preferences.
