Sony has updated its Sony Xperia bootloader unlock tool, it is now designed to make unlocking of your Sony Xperia smartphone easier.
The new bootloader unlock tool for Sony’s Xperia devices is design to be much simpler than the previous version, and it is now broken down into three main steps, which you can see below.
If you’re an open source developer working with custom ROMs and kernels, or if you’re part of the custom ROMs community, we have some great news for you. As yet another step in our strive for openness, our Unlock boot loader service is now re-launched with improved usability. It will now be easier to go through the steps it takes to unlock a device.
In order to unlock your Sony Xperia handset using the tool, you will need to follow the steps below.
Select your device and enter an email address.
Submit your IMEI number.
Get your unlock code and perform the actual unlocking of the device.
Once this is done your handset will be unlocked, and it comes with the usual caveats that unlocking your bootloader may void your warranty.
Sony has also added some new devices to their bootloader unlock tool, these now include the Sony Xperia Z2 and also the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, you can find out more information over at Sony at the link below.
