Audiovox has announced a new product called the ShutterBall. This device is a remote shutter controller for smartphone cameras that works in conjunction with the application available for no charge. The ShutterBall is a round ball with the loop attached allowing it to be connected to bags or belt loops and just about anywhere else you can think of.
The intent of the ShutterBall is to connect to your smartphone via an application and allow you to activate the shutter of your camera remotely. That will allow you to take some pictures easier and appearance group shots rather than having to hold the camera.
The smartphone application is available for the iPhone and for certain Samsung smartphone models. Compatible Samsung smartphone models include the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Note 2. The devices all have to be running Android 4.2.2 or higher. Apple devices have to be running iOS 6.0 are up. The ShutterBall has a wireless range of 60 feet from your smartphone and can be used to trigger still images or video. The device has an integrated coin cell battery good for up to five years of use. ShutterBall is available now for $24.99 in green, pink, blue, or black.
