There has been speculation of late that Samsung had bought or was in the process of by Boxee the cross-platform freeware Home Theater PC media streaming device manufacturer.
Well today Samsung has officially put rumours to rest and has announced that they have now acquired “key talent and assets” from Boxee.
Boxee had recently raised $26.5m or £17.3m in funds from a range of US and Israeli investors to develop their product range and has just released a new service that subscribers record TV shows onto the Boxee Cloud and stream them to other devices when rehired such as PC, tablets and smartphones.
According to the Wall Street Journal, an inside source suggests that Samsung is planning to move forward specifically with Boxee’s Cloud storage and will be looking to re-design and enhance the user interface for the device to the coming months.
