Withings has unveiled a new addition to their range of health monitoring, digital weighing scales this week with the launch of the new Withings Body Cardio scale. Which is now available to purchase directly from the Apple and Withings online stores priced at $180.
From July 7th 2016 onwards the Withings Body Cardio scale will also be available to purchase from other online and high street retailers and if your budget won’t quite stretch to $180, a more affordable Withings Body scale is also available to purchase priced to $130.
Check out the video below to learn more about all the new features that have been introduced by Withings in their latest scales which is capable of calculating your fat, muscle, bone mass and heart health each time you stand on it.
The Body Cardio scale measures just 18 mm in thickness and is capable of working on any surface whether you have tiles or carpet fitted in the room you would like to weigh. Using the companion application, as with other Withings digital scales, you can monitor your data over time and keep tabs on your fat, muscle, water and bone mass as well as your standing heart rate. A new feature added within the Body Cardio scale is the “pulse wave velocity” or PVW, which indicates the speed your blood circulates in your body.
Body Cardio gives everyone the opportunity to follow heart health at home via the introduction of a new measurement: pulse wave velocity. Recognized by the medical community as the best stand-alone indicator to provide a reliable assessment of overall cardiovascular health, pulse wave velocity assessments from Body Cardio have the potential to revolutionize how we care for our cardiovascular health.
With every beat the heart generates a wave that propagates along the arteries. The propagation speed of this wave is directly linked to the health of your arteries. Faster speeds indicate stiffer arteries, which increase the risk of developing hypertension or cardiovascular disease. Each weigh-in will provide a pulse wave velocity reading and assessment within the Health Mate app. Taking age into account, the app will inform as to whether it is optimal or not, and provide tips to improve it. Whatever your fitness level, you will be able to clearly see how adopting small lifestyle changes — like a healthier diet and more activity — can have a big impact on improving the health of your arteries.
