Mercedes Benz has revealed the pricing and specifications for their new Mercedes AMG GT 4MATIC+ four-door Coupe.
The Mercedes AMG GT 4MATIC+ four-door Coupe will come in three different versions: the GT 63, which will start at £121,350; the GT 63 S, which will start at £135,550; and the GT 63 S Edition 1 with a price of £148,950.
Performance and Engine Specifications
The GT 63 uses AMG’s hand-built 4.0-litre V8 ‘hot V’ biturbo petrol engine, which generates 585 hp and 800 Nm torque. The GT 63 S delivers an impressive 639 hp and maximum torque of 900 Nm. The GT 63 can achieve 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, while the GT 63 S takes just 3.2 seconds.
This remarkable performance is a testament to Mercedes’ engineering prowess. The ‘hot V’ configuration places the turbochargers inside the V of the engine, which not only reduces turbo lag but also improves throttle response. This setup is particularly beneficial for high-performance vehicles, ensuring that power delivery is both immediate and exhilarating.
The GT 63 delivers a combined fuel consumption of 25.2 mpg and emits 256 g/km of CO2, while the GT 63 S delivers 25.0 mpg and emits 257 g/km of CO2.
While these figures might not be the most eco-friendly, they are quite respectable for a vehicle in this performance category. The balance between power and efficiency is a challenging feat, and Mercedes has managed to strike a commendable balance.
Transmission and Driving Dynamics
All three versions come as standard with an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission, which has a wet start-off clutch – this reduces weight and optimises responses.
The AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission is a marvel of modern engineering. The wet start-off clutch replaces the traditional torque converter, resulting in quicker gear changes and a more direct connection between the engine and the drivetrain. This not only enhances performance but also contributes to a more engaging driving experience.
The 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system ensures that power is distributed effectively to all four wheels, providing excellent traction and stability, even in challenging driving conditions. This system can vary the torque distribution between the front and rear axles, ensuring optimal performance whether you’re navigating tight corners or accelerating on a straightaway.
Mercedes are now taking orders on their new Mercedes AMG GT 4MATIC+ four-door Coupe, and first customer deliveries will start in the Spring of 2019. This new model is set to compete with other high-performance luxury sedans, offering a blend of speed, luxury, and cutting-edge technology that is sure to appeal to discerning buyers.
In addition to its performance credentials, the Mercedes AMG GT 4MATIC+ four-door Coupe also boasts a luxurious interior, replete with high-quality materials and the latest in infotainment technology. Features such as the widescreen cockpit, advanced driver assistance systems, and customizable ambient lighting ensure that every journey is as comfortable as it is thrilling.
