If you watch movies on your laptop or smartphone when on the go, you know that the sound system leaves a lot to be desired on many devices. A new set of headphones have turned up on Kickstarter called Neoh and they claim to be the first smart 3D audio headphones around. Neoh headphones promise to reproduce a sound that will appear to come from all around like you hear at a movie theater.
The Neoh headphones work with a free Neoh player and allow you to watch movies with 3D sound on the iPad. The company plans to add the ability to listen to movies with 3D sound on the iPhone soon. Laptop audio is supported already. Android devices are supported for movies and music as well. The mobile application has signal-processing algorithms that position different audio sources.
If you want to use the headphones on a device without the player, they will work as normal headphones. Inside the headphones are gyroscopes, accelerometer, and magnetometers along with a Bluetooth LE chip. The works is powered by a rechargeable battery good for ten hours of use per charge. The project is seeking $80,000 and has raised over $51,000 with 26 days to go. You can get a set of Neoh headphones for $209 with shipping in June.
