The iPhone 8 is launching later this year, probably some time in September, and now we are starting to hear rumors about the 2018 iPhone 9.
According to a recent report, the 2018 iPhone 9 will be available in two different sizes, and both handsets will feature an OLED display.
iPhone 9 Display Sizes and Features
Apple’s iPhone 9 is rumored to come with a 5.28-inch display, and there will apparently be a larger model, which we presume will be called the iPhone 9 Plus, with a 6.46-inch display. This marks a significant shift from the current iPhone lineup, which has traditionally offered LCD screens. The move to OLED displays is expected to provide better color accuracy, deeper blacks, and improved battery efficiency.
The report said the iPhone 9 is expected to come in two OLED models — 5.28- and 6.46-inch display sizes. Samsung’s OLED shipment is also likely to be more than double at 180 million units.
“The two companies have recently signed a non-disclosure agreement on general conditions, including the screen size,” an industry source was quoted as saying in the report.
Samsung, which has been a long-time supplier of OLED panels for various smartphone manufacturers, is expected to play a crucial role in the production of the iPhone 9’s displays. The report suggests that Samsung’s OLED shipment for the iPhone 9 could more than double, reaching 180 million units. This partnership underscores the growing importance of OLED technology in the smartphone industry.
What to Expect from the iPhone 9
While the display sizes and OLED technology are the most talked-about features, there are other aspects of the iPhone 9 that are generating buzz. For instance, there are speculations about the inclusion of advanced biometric security features, such as an under-display fingerprint sensor and improved facial recognition technology. These features would enhance the security and user experience of the device.
Additionally, the iPhone 9 is expected to come with a more powerful processor, likely the A12 Bionic chip, which would offer better performance and efficiency compared to its predecessors. This new chip could also support more advanced augmented reality (AR) applications, making the iPhone 9 a more versatile device for both entertainment and productivity.
Another area of interest is the camera system. Apple has been consistently improving its camera technology, and the iPhone 9 is expected to feature significant upgrades in this department. Rumors suggest that the new models could come with enhanced dual-lens systems, offering better low-light performance, optical zoom, and advanced computational photography features.
Moreover, the iPhone 9 is likely to support faster wireless charging and possibly even reverse wireless charging, allowing users to charge other devices, such as AirPods, directly from their iPhone. This would add a new level of convenience for users who rely on multiple Apple devices.
I guess we will have to wait until next year to find out more about the iPhone 9. The new iPhone 8 is expected to launch this September, and it will be interesting to see how it sets the stage for the iPhone 9.
