Apple will be announcing the new iPad 2 next Wednesday at a special event in San Francisco, and we heard earlier today about some of the possible specifications on the iPad 2.
One rumor which we heard a while back, and now seems to have re-surfaced, this time from Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, is that the iPad 2 will feature a Carbon Fiber design.
I could publish things I’m only half-sure about, like the iPad 2 switching from aluminum to a lightweight high-strength carbon fiber body, but I don’t, because I’m only half-sure and I’ve only heard about it from second-hand sources who themselves are unsure about it. And even if I were to off-handedly mention such speculation, I’d do so in a footnote and take pains to emphasize the uncertain nature of the information and the second-hand status of the sources thereof.
I guess we will have to wait until next week to see if Apple has decided to use Carbon Fiber for the iPad casing instead of the aluminum in the current generation iPad.
Apple has just launched their third generation iPad, the iPad 3 and they now sell it along with the iPad 2, have a look at our handy iPad 3 vs iPad 2 guide to find out the difference between the iPad 3 and iPad 2.
