We’ve heard a few times in the past few months that HTC is reportedly working on a smartwatch. Not too long ago, it was reported that HTC will launch the alleged HTC One M9 and a smartwatch at their press event in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress 2015.
According to a new report from Forbes, HTC is expected to launch a wearable device at MWC 2015, but it will not be a smartwatch, but a fitness tracker.
The report mentions HTC in collaboration with Under Armoud is working on a fitness tracker which is expected to see the light of the day at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This makes sense as the company announced a partnership with Under Armour earlier this month.
The report mentioned, “The source, who works closely with HTC, explained that reports of the company making a smartwatch are incorrect. He said that HTC’s recent partnership with Under Armour will see both companies collaborate on a fitness band – however he couldn’t elaborate any further on the exact details of the wearable.”
The source, however, couldn’t get much details about what the fitness tracker will offer, but MWC 2015 is just around the corner. Until then, take this news with an appropriate amount of salt. We’ll update you as soon as we get any other information.
