Recently, HTC announced its expanding the availability of the HTC Desire family in the US, offering the Desire 610 and 816 to US customers.
HTC Desire 610 is already available in the US through AT&T for $199.99, and the bigger Desire 816 will soon hit Virgin Mobile. In addition, both devices will also be available in unlocked flavors directly through HTC as well. Both devices will also hit various retail outlets by the end of this month.
“Design and innovation are what we’re known for, and now we’re taking that to new segments of the market with our HTC Desire line,” said Erin McGee, Vice President of Marketing of HTC America. “We thought it was time that consumers had better smartphones to choose from across price points and payment options. We have partnered with a number of retailers to ensure that these HTC Desire line of products are not only affordable, but also accessible.”
HTC Desire 610 is available from HTC for an off-contract price of $299, but the price of the Desire 816 is not yet known. As for the specifications, Desire 610 comes with a 4.7-inch display sporting a resolution of 540 by 960 pixels, with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8GB expandable storage, 8MP camera for photos and videos, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2,040 mAh battery and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat as its operating system.
For the HTC Desire 816, the handset rocks a 5.5-inch display sporting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC with 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 13MP camera for photos and videos, 5MP front-facing camera, a 2,600 mAh battery and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 as its operating system.
