The whole point of the Guitar Sidekick is to assist your six-string shenanigans via a helpful handheld device. How? Since it clips on your headstock or any available space between the guitar’s neck and head, you can use its clamp to hold an iPhone from where you view the tabs you’re playing.
While this is its ideal use, we think the Guitar Sidekick is also perfect for play-alongs. There are certainly enough instructional videos on YouTube for that extra bit of guidance from your idols.
Just for the hell of it, you might as well throw in all your other smartphone activity while this is stuck to your axe. Check email, tweet, chat and drop by tech blogs to the accompaniment of your own fine music. In fact, you can even record some of your stuff using the right app and post it on MySpace ASAP.
For only $30, we deem the Guitar Sidekick a worthy investment. Come to think of it, manufacturer Castiv may be on to something here: wouldn’t be nice if your guitar had a built-in port for your handheld? That would be awesome.
Now excuse us while we do some drawings and get in touch with the patent office.
