BlackBerry has announced its latest financial results for quarter three of 2013, the company has made a massive net loss of $4.4 billion US dollars.
BlackBerry had revenue of $1.2 billion for the third quarter of 2013, this is down 56 percent on the same quarter in 2013, the company also revealed how many BlackBerry smartphones it had sold.
BlackBerry managed to sell a total of 1.9 million smartphones in quarter three, this is down from 3.7 million for the previous quarter, it also announced that it has formed a partnership with Foxconn.
This partnership demonstrates BlackBerry’s commitment to the device market for the long-term and our determination to remain the innovation leader in secure end-to-end mobile solutions,” said John Chen, Executive Chair and CEO of BlackBerry. “Partnering with Foxconn allows BlackBerry to focus on what we do best – iconic design, world-class security, software development and enterprise mobility management – while simultaneously addressing fast-growing markets leveraging Foxconn’s scale and efficiency that will allow us to compete more effectively.”
Foxconn and BlackBerry have formed a partnership for the next five years, the two companies will work together to develop and manufacture new BlackBerry devices, the first devices are intended for emerging markets and will launch next year.
