Blackberry announced they are working on a new version of their popular instant messaging client, BBM, which will launch in the coming weeks.
If you’re in possession of a Gingerbread powered device, and want to get the taste of how good BBM really is, you can now download the app from the Google Play Store.
Not too long after Blackberry announced they are cooking a new version with Gingerbread support, the APK of the application got leaked as well, something which happened before the launch of the official BBM application as well resulting in the delay of the app. Thankfully, it didn’t happen this time, and it seems the update is now available on time.
Now, we’re pleased to share that it’s ready and will be available starting today. This means that Android Gingerbread users can start to enjoy the immediacy, privacy and control of BBM to chat and share with friends, family and people they work with. And for our existing BBM users, this release means that you can find even more of the people you want to talk to on BBM. Be sure to check out the Find Friends feature to see who has joined BBM that you may know – that’s found under ‘Invites’ in the bottom left hand corner of the BBM app.
Gingerbread represents a very decent share when it comes to Android, and accounts for almost 21 percent of the total Android devices in the market. So, it makes a lot of sense to bring support for it as it will bring new users for the Canadian manufacturer, and that too, in millions.
Simply head over to the Google Play Store on your device and download BBM. Also share with us your experience after installing the app, are there any delays or decreased performance?
