When Apple announced their Apple Watch Series 4 they revealed that it would come with an ECG function, this will not be enabled in watcOS 5.1.2.
Apple’s watchOS 5.1.2 is in beta testing at the moment and now MacRumors has discovered that this version of watchOS will bring the Apple ECG app to the iPhone and also the Apple Watch.
The ECG is taken by placing a finger on the Digital Crown on the side of the Apple Watch, it takes around 30 seconds to complete the test, the data is then shown in the app.
Apple’s ECG feature will only be available in the US at first as they have received FDA approval for it in the US so far, they need approval in other countries before it launches there.
As yet there are no details on when the new Apple Watch Series 4 will get the watchOS 5.1.2 software update, as soon as we get some more details, we will let you guys know.
